SUMMARY

Catapult Products LLC was founded in 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The founders have over 30 years of experience in developing, manufacturing, and marketing dozens of medical products in a variety of healthcare settings. Their mission is to “develop superior products that bring positive experiences to infants and their families.”

BACKGROUND

The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) along with current research recommend immersion swaddle bathing for healthy full-term and pre-term infants.  The innovative TurtleTub system by Catapult Products provides a safe environment for bathing all infants in the hospital.  The system includes: the TurtleTub bathtub, disposable single-use bath liners, fragrance-free baby wash, swaddle bathing blankets, a mobile bathing cart, and accessories.

TESTING AND COLLABORATION

Catapult Products and Microchem Lab first collaborated to conduct USP-61 microbial enumerations testing and USP-51 preservative challenge testing on the TurtleTub Baby Wash. On successful completion of the TurtleTub Baby Wash testing, Catapult Products inquired about validating disinfection instructions for their TurtleTub bathtub. The Microchem team was able to seamlessly transition the testing from the Cosmetics and Challenge Testing Team to the Medical Device Validations Team.  Baby tubs are not regulated by the FDA, they are regulated by CPSC, however, Catapult Products required high-quality data to ensure infant safety in the demanding hospital setting and streamlined approval by hospital infection control departments. After a few phone calls and e-mails to understand the needs and concerns of Catapult Products, Microchem’s talented scientists were able to envision, design, and execute a fully custom study to meet their needs.

STORY OUTCOME

The testing process by Microchem Labs helped determine an effective disinfecting process for the TurtleTub.  Catapult Products appreciated Microchem Lab’s hands-on, direct approach. At Microchem, clients speak directly to the scientist who will be performing their testing. There are no lengthy forms to complete or hoops to jump through just to get a price quote. There’s no room for crucial details to be “lost in translation”, and you’ll be informed every step of the way. We’re happy to explain the science behind our testing to ensure that the client’s needs are being met.

Marshall Denton from Catapult Products tells us “I prefer to talk and discuss things through. You guys make it very easy to work together.”
