EPA has confirmed to Antimicrobial Test Labs that the previously-published “Copper Protocols” have been removed from their website, but indicated that new copper/copper alloy registrations would still be considered. For new registrations, applicants will need to generate a customized protocol and submit it to EPA for review. If EPA determines the protocol to be acceptable, applicants can then generate GLP efficacy data and submit it for approval. EPA will honor existing registrations based on the previously published protocols.
If your company is interested in gaining “health claims” for an antimicrobial surface or fabric simply contact the lab to get started.
