Ebola Outbreak and CDC Guidance

A large Ebola virus outbreak is underway in West Africa.  The map above shows the distribution of infections as of August 15, 2014.  As of August 22, there have been 2,615 suspected and confirmed cases.  Of those, 1,427 have resulted in death.  CDC has issued interim guidance for Ebola infection control in hospitals, indicating cleaning followed by treatment with disinfectants with claims for non-enveloped viruses (interesting but sensible; Ebola virus is enveloped but only potent virucides disinfect non-enveloped viruses).
